What the Funeral Home Needs to Know
Let the funeral home know a casket is being shipped to them. They'll need:
- Their receiving address and hours (usually business hours, Mon–Sat)
- A contact name for the delivery
Funeral homes deal with casket deliveries regularly. Most are completely accustomed to receiving from third-party retailers.
Can the Funeral Home Refuse Delivery?
No. Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes are legally required to accept caskets purchased from outside retailers. They cannot charge a handling fee or surcharge.
